Why Revenue Share is better than CPA

Poker Affiliate Programs often offer two payment options for Affiliates: Either Revenue Share or CPA. Revenue Share is a certain percentage of the revenue a player rakes. CPA is a one time payment once a new player registered, made a deposit and played a certain amounts of hands. If you're working on revenue share you earn a life time commission of about 15 – 40 % depending on the revenue your players generate. At TrickyPlay the Poker Affiliate starts at 20 % and can earn up to 50 %. That's a very nice Affiliate commission.

Other poker rooms also offer CPA. You'll receive a one time payment ranging from 50 – 100 Euro depending on the amount of players you can generate each month. After this payment the Affiliate doesn't earn anything from his player.

The reason why revenue share is the better payment option is possible fraud with CPA both fraud by affiliates and poker rooms. It's pretty easy to collect some friends, get them to sign up through your tracking link, make them deposit and play the minimum required to receive the CPA. The Affiliate makes some nice cash while the poker room only gets bad quality players. This will be a loosing situation for the poker room. Imagine you collect 100 players that make a deposit and play the minimum required thus generating for instance 20 Euro in rake. After that they pay out or play just barely. You'll receive 100 Euro CPA what amounts to 10.000 Euro in total. The poker room only earns 2000 Euro and loses 8.000 Euro!
To avoid such situations the poker rooms reserve the right to deny Affiliate payments! So if he sees that your players are bad and fraud is possible he'll stop the deal, wont pay you and you see 0 instead of 10.000 Euro.

The CPA is only a long term model if the Affiliate brings high quality players thus making the poker room's investment a good one. But here's the problem for Affiliates: If you're bringing high quality players you would be better off with a revenue share deal because your players would make you more money with revenue share instead of CPA.

So CPA is often a bad deal for Affiliates. Because if your players are minor what can't be influenced that easily it's likely that you won't get paid and the deal is stopped. And if you can send some high quality players you're better off with a revenue share deal.

While it's lucrative to get nice cash right away after referring a player it's also dangerous and can be unprofitable for Affiliates. That's the reason we only offer revenue share at TrickyPlay because it's the fairest payment option out there. You send us players as an Affiliate and will be rewarded for that. If you're sending low quality players you don't earn much and if you're sending high volume players you're making big money!
